Threads Sharing Guide
How to share Threads media on Instagram and Facebook
Use a Threads link when you want to point people to the original post. Download the actual photo, sticker or video when you want to publish it as an Instagram Story, Reel, post, Facebook post or Messenger attachment.
Choose between a link and a media file
There are two different ways to share a Threads post. Copying the link shares the original Threads page. Downloading the media creates a local file that you can upload to Instagram, Facebook or Messenger.
Use the link when the original caption, replies and creator context matter. Use the file only when you have the right to upload or reuse the image, sticker, GIF or video.
Share the Threads link to Instagram or Facebook
In Threads, open the post, tap Share, and choose Copy link. Paste the URL into an Instagram direct message, an Instagram profile link field where appropriate, a Facebook post, or a Messenger conversation. You can also use the platform's own share option if it offers a direct destination on your device.
The recipient may need to open the Threads app or website. Link previews are controlled by the social platforms and can change if the original post becomes unavailable.
Upload a Threads photo or sticker
Paste the public Threads link into Threads Sticker Saver, select Extract media, and download the image or supported sticker you want to use. Open Instagram or Facebook and choose the normal photo upload flow for a Story, post, message, or Facebook update.
If the downloaded image is in Files rather than Photos, use the app's file picker or save the image to Photos first. On Android, check the Downloads folder and select the file from Gallery or Files.
Upload a Threads video
For a public Threads video, open the Threads video and photo downloader. Save the MP4, then open Instagram or Facebook and upload it through the normal Story, Reel, post, or message composer.
The destination platform may crop, resize, transcode, or limit the length of the video. That processing happens after the download and is controlled by Instagram or Facebook, not by Threads Sticker Saver.
When Instagram or Facebook rejects the file
Try the file from the device's local storage rather than a temporary browser preview. Confirm that the download finished, check the file type, and upload one item at a time. A video that plays in the browser but fails to upload may exceed the destination app's size, duration, or format limits.
For Messenger, attaching the original downloaded file can be more reliable than trying to paste a media URL. For a public post that you only want to recommend, send the Threads link instead.
Add context and credit
If you share another creator's work, keep the creator's name and original Threads link visible where possible. Ask for permission before reposting, editing, monetizing, or using the media in advertising. A public post is not automatically licensed for every type of reuse.
Try it with Threads Sticker Saver
Copy a public Threads post link, paste it into Threads Sticker Saver, and choose Extract media. For videos and photos, you can also use the Threads video and photo downloader. No sign-up or Threads login is required.
